Pita Chips

These chips taste like they are fried, but they are baked with no oil. Perfect to accompany Alaskan Guacamole or other dip.

Ingredients

  • 6 small wholemeal pita breads or any flat bread
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried mixed herbs
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • (optional: a dash of chilli powder for those who like it hot)

Method

  • Pre-heat the oven to 180�C (350�F).

    Serve with crackers and raw carrot and celery sticks.

  • Cut the flat bread into bite-sized pieces: 2 to 4 centimetres (1 to 2 inches) square.

  • Mix the salt and spices together in a large bowl.

  • Add the bread pieces to the bowl and toss them in the mixture, coating the bread evenly with the seasoning.

  • Spread the seasoned bread pieces evenly over a baking tray and bake at 180�C (350�F) for 15 to 20 minutes, until the chips are crisp.
