Gingered Broccoli

Add spice to your broccoli. Ginger is a digestive tonic (among other things), and broccoli is a good source of vitamin C, bioflavonoids and indoles (anticarcinogenic compounds).

Cooking time: 5 minutes


Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250 grams (8 ounces) broccoli
  • 4 thin slices fresh ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 1/4 cup boiling water

Method

  • Cut the broccoli into small flowerets

  • Cut the ginger slices into small matchsticks

  • Put the ginger in a pan with the honey and tamari and cook on the stove on high heat for for two minutes.

  • Put in the broccoli and cook for a further 3 minutes.

  • Pour in the water.

  • Cover the pot and simmer for a few minutes more until cooked.
